The Optimist Club of Raleigh supports the achievement of our
outstanding local youth in hopes that they will become outstanding civic leaders
in their communities.
Since 1957, Optimist Clubs have recognized youth for their talents
in the arts, athletics, academics, and for contributions to community.
Youth Appreciation Week provides one such opportunity
for this recognition.
Traditionally the Optimist Club of Raleigh celebrates Youth
Appreciation Week by
awarding scholarships to two high school seniors in Wake County. Scholarships are based on
academic and extra-curricular accomplishments and level of community
involvement. These scholarship can be used at any accredited university,
college or trade/vocational school.
Scholarships for the current year will be announced here and on our Facebook page: Optimist Club of Raleigh.
Note: Optimist Internation sponsors three scholarship contests for students to
earn scholarships to pursue opportunities in higher education:
1. Communications Contest for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CCDHH),
2. Essay Contest, and
3. Oratorical Contest.
The contests are coducted at the Club level, then Zone and Regional
(if necessary) and at the District level.
